Much like the fake Martin and Benedict quotes of last year, it is so completely and utterly not fine that this keeps happening. It’s not only embarassing for everyone else in the fandom and for the creators and cast of the show, but is exactly the sort of shit that breeds bad will towards fans in general.

When people do this stuff, I know that they don’t understand the damage they’re doing, but COME ON. It’s never okay to make up quotes. Morally not okay at all. Just because you’re not a journalist doesn’t suddenly make it fine.

And what do you bet when Moffat asked, “Where do those tweets turn up?” he knew exactly where? Perhaps not firsthand, but by reputation. Sometimes I think that the ease and continuous flow of this particular site facilitates a lot of poor judgement. But I love it here, can we please not let it turn into a place completely reviled by content creators?
